A lovely French confit pot, originally used in the South of France in the late 1800’s, to preserve food.
They were partially buried in the cold ground and glazed midway to protect the terracotta.
This is a particularly lovely one, with no drips and a straight line of glaze all round. It even has traces of French writing in pencil on it.
