A decorative French “Cèpe de Bordeaux” mushroom, dating back to the early 1900’s. Handcarved from one solid piece of teak root and silvered beautifully with time.
These wild mushrooms grow throughout the forest in the northern hemisphere, showing above ground in autumn but forming a relationship with the trees underground, enveloping their roots in fungal tissue and so allowing the forest to communicate and share resources.
This heavy carving is a fitting tribute to an important member of the forest ecosystem.
